The CSV that is exported by Hubstaff is encoded in UTF-8. Microsoft Excel does not detect this automatically like other office suites (i.e., Apple’s iWork, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, etc.), which causes some characters to appear incorrectly (i.e., currency symbols). Therefore, in order to load the CSV, you need to import the data in Microsoft Excel instead of just double-clicking the CSV file. In the import process, you then specify the encoding to be UTF-8 (65001) and comma-delimited.

When you export the data, it shows one line for each “entity” tracked. Thus, if you enabled export per-task data, then you will see time for each task and a single line showing how much time was tracked on the project alone. If you want the total for a project, simply sum up the data for that project in the exported data (group by the project column) or run a CSV report without showing task data to only show projects.
Notes are attached to the item they were added against (i.e., task or project).
The filters for the main report affect how the CSV and PDF are generated.
A PDF report will include your organization logo (if you have added one – read how to add organization logos here)
