Install and Sign-in into Linux Desktop Client
Download Hubstaff for Linux Here
Once you’ve downloaded the software, you will need to install it.
Right click on the file and go to “Properties”, then select the “Permissions” tab.
Check the box to allow executing the file as a program.
NOTE: When downloading the client on Google Chrome, you will need to “Save As” the downloaded file. If you are using Firefox, you will need to choose “Download” instead or “Open”.
You should then be prompted to run the installer. Simply follow the instructions on screen and the app will install.
If you’re not automatically prompted to run the installer, open a command terminal and drag-and-drop the .sh file into it, then press enter. The installer will then open.
Log in using your account’s email address and password.
The timer will open and you can now select a project and start tracking your time.
You can also right click on the Hubstaff icon in your application tray and start tracking time from the drop-down menu.
Invalid email address/password
It’s saying my email address and password are incorrect, but I know I’m entering them correctly and can log into the website. What do I do?
If you install the app as root (i.e. using sudo), then the data directory will be owned by root, and therefore your normal user account won’t be able to write to it (and therefore can’t log into it. To fix this, all you have to do is change the directory permissions so that it’s owned by your normal user account.
Open a command terminal.
Enter the following and press enter: chown -R <user>.<user> ~/.local/share/HubStaff
