Hubstaff won’t connect (Bitdefender)

Hubstaff Not Connected

Question:

Hubstaff is not connecting to the internet. Recently I have changed my computer’s virus protection to Bitdefender and I think that it is a part of the problem. How do I re-establish Hubstaff’s connectivity?

Answer:

In order to stop bit defender/firewall from blocking access, you must exclude the Hubstaff’s .exe from both of them. To do this, open your BitDefender client (either by clicking on the icon in your system tray/desktop or through the “Start” menu ). Next, click on the tab that says “Programs”. There, you will be able to see the current rules or create new ones. Click “Add New” and enable Hubstaff.

Also, it seems that a “feature” of Bitdefender causes issues with getting Hubstaff to connect to our servers. It looks like it’s a well known issue since it has been documented on their support site. A quick workaround is to disable SSL scanning temporarily and that should allow Hubstaff to connect to our servers.

Please see BitDefender support site for any BitDefender related issues.
