Time tracking reminder

Occasionally, you or your staff members may forget to start their timer. This could happen at the beginning of the day, or after coming back from lunch and/or a break. Within the desktop application and the Chrome extension, you can select a setting that reminds your users to start the timer if they have not tracked time during their shift. Follow the instructions below to be reminded to track time:

Table of Contents

Desktop app

Step 1

Go to the Preferences menu by pressing the menu icon in the top right corner of the application or right-click the Hubstaff icon in the system tray to bring up the menu.

Step 2

Click on the Remind me to track time checkbox. Next, input the exact time frame of your shift and choose the days of the week that you wanted to get notified. Finally, specify your reminder duration (this is the amount of time between reminders).

Step 3

The reminder can be set as a Notification or an Alert.

If it was set up as a Notification, it’d be like the one you get when you start tracking time or when a screenshot is taken (it pops up from the Hubstaff icon in your system tray).

If it was set up as an Alert, you’ll be presented with a modal dialog stating that you are not tracking time. The alert will also let you know how long it has been since you have tracked time in the current day. It will also tell you how much the remaining time you have left on your day.

Reminder Start or Start time – is the beginning of the workday. Starting from the start time, if you did not start the timer after the specified time (Reminder Duration), you will start getting the notification and will continue to receive it until you start tracking time.
Reminder End or End Time – the exact time that you’ll stop receiving the said notification
