Comparing Work Summary Emails with Reports

Comparing Work Summary Emails with Reports and How Data Gets Updated on Hubstaff.com

Sometimes you may notice the data on your work summary email doesn’t match with the one displayed on the website. Well, we’ve put together this article to explain the reasons why the time can be off at times:

1) Timezone does not matter as the application “runs” in UTC.
2) If the user has intermittent network issues it can cause latency in uploading activity (as well as screenshot data)
3) If the user is on a laptop or a machine that goes to sleep that will interrupt the ability of the client to upload data
4) The client itself uploads data within approximately 5 minutes after “10” minute rollover boundary or after stopping tracking. The amount of delay varies so as to load balance with our servers.

If the data has not been uploaded from the desktop app when the email is generated, then the email will not have a correct full picture of all the time and will be inaccurate. Also if a user removes/deletes/edits time after the email is sent out, then again the email will not be accurate. Also,  If the desktop app is “quit” before it can upload all the time data, then the daily report WILL differ from the reports on the hubstaff website after the desktop app is restarted and uploads the remaining data. The reports page is then correct as it is seeing the full complete view of all data.

Manual time is included in work summary emails.
